In just 4 weeks, the smoking age goes up to 18.
For any teens on HHGS who do smoke, or maybe dont smoke...
-are you ready?
-what are you doing bout it?
-are you quitting?
-do you think its a good thing?

I think its a great thing. Smoking is discusting and this will hopefully stop some teens / kids doing it. It doesnt make you look kool or anything, it makes you look dirty and like you havnt been brought up well.
The sooner everyone gives up the better. If anyone replies to this thread saying something like 'I cant give up' then sthu because your the people that can and just cba!

ive been smoking for 4 years now, longer then, and the smoking age goes up to 18, a week b4 my 16th bday.
i'e had a good up bringing, i work had at school,
i just have an addiction, n thats not a crime, i cant quit.
it doesn't make me a bad person, but i generally ant quit.
sorry if you dont agree danny, but we and pethetic n lazy.
its really hard for us.
its like telling a man they cant ever even think of anything sexual ever again!
Grrr! You can give up dont be so damn stupid!
You hardly even tried! Go down the doctors? Get free patches? go up hospital? Theres all these options that you wont consider because you dont want to

i had nrly quit until i met my m8s 2 months ago.
i ud make 10 fags last me nrly 2 weeks.
now after 2 months, 10 dont last me aday, and i end up smokin ma m8s.
i cant quit, n i aint leavin ma m8s.
mind u, better then when i was in year 7 n 8, 40 aday

they are great frends, the best frends ive ever had in my life.
but they all smoke, evry single 1 of um, n danny dus too, my bf.
just because they smoke doesnt mean you have to. By the time your 25 your gunna sound like a 60 year old man. I hope you realise that. also your skin is going to be yellow and your gunna stink
It wont really matter if the age goes up?
Cause people will get there mates to buy the fags.
Or they will steal from their mums and dads.

Smoking is disgusting and tbh if people really wanted to give up they would.Dnt buy the fags in the 1st place to be tempted,if u have a craving go do summit else and take ur mind of it.

The age is kinda retarded, If you like to smoke then smoke if not, then don't smoke. It's not a big idea, everyone knows the risks, so what's the point in putting restrictions on it.
I think the idea is to make it so in the future less people smoke and therefore less people die of lung or skin cancer.
Its the government trying to protect our future
Yeah, I understand. People don't care though, if they wanted to smoke the will still smoke no matter what the government say or do.

iv been smoking since i was 13, im now 16 since august 28th, 1 month of buying my smokes legally then im forcing myself to finally quit! xD
for me, i didnt start to be "cool" or we. i did it because i liked doing it, simple as that lol
atfer about 6 months i became addicted, ever since then iv told everyone i meet, if they smoke, to quit, if they dont smoke, never to start.
the "smoking" age will still be 16, u just carnt buy them unless ur 18....
for example, a police officer wont stop u smoking if ur under 18, or so iv heard....
1 more thing xD if anyone is planning to quit, DONT go cold turkey, its alot tougher that way, Dont use patches either, just cut urself down from like 15 smokes a day to 10, then to 8, then 7, ect. eventually u will either quit compleatly or only reach for ur lighter for that cheeky smoke when ur all stressed out xD

U were smoking when you were in year 7 :O thats to loved btw... i cant realy believe that... here it wasnt till late year 9 till they started smoking... Well i did see 3 year 6's smoking down at the park a while ago. id never start... id rather do drugs tbh

Its a good idea to raise the age to 18 but tbh like anything if they tell you you cant do it you want to do it more...children will always find a way to buy fags no matter what people do and i guess if they want to its their choice aslong as they dnt do it round me coz its stinkie...and btw Danny its not ginger its sexual red :051:

Smoking it horrible and wrong and the government are using the disgusting habit as a way or getting money tbh. They should just stop it all together, I see no reason why you should want to damage yourself for 'pleasure'. I realise people get addicted but there is so many ways to quit and you can't say you can't quit until you try, simple as.

i started in year 6 actually, on my induction to secondary.
its rly hard 2 quit, i know.
i was the only person from my primary to come here, my mum promisd me from year 3, that i would go to grammer skwl but i never got in, and i was so start of starting a normal secondary skwl, especilly 1 going into special mesures becuse my mum scared me so much.
1 girl from my street went to the skwl, the only 1 i knew, she was in year 10, and smoked, i was soo scared, i smoked with her to calm my nerves, destress me.
i smoked all summer, and by the xmas, when i realised the skwl wasnt that bad, i couldnt quit. so thats the story, i hate myself for smoking, but i cant stop, im hookd.

I think it's a good idea.
It will certainly help younger people who don't want to smoke.
However i do highly doubt it will stop people smoking.
It wont stop people. To be honest, I dont see the point, and it's not coming into action on Guernsey. So blah xD

but sam ya know that cigarette company owners aint stupid i watched a programme and the interviewer said " do you smoke ?" and the company owenr said " do you think im stupid i see what goes into those things, and day in to day out people go to buy them so we just carry on making them, its like stealing candy from a blind man"
so they think we are fools our selve for smoking ( not me iv'e had my share but i gave up after got forced to smoke drugs)

We don't have enough Police to enforce it and schools have no power anymore so it's pointless.
i HATE smokers.

I was on about this today, as far as I know its still legal to smoke at 16? If not then meh xD! But yeah, you have to be 18 to purchase them, but 16 to smoke them? Its like.. You need to be 18 to purchase ''adult movies'' but you can have ''it'' at 16.. Might sound stupid but I really dont get it!? You cant watch it.. But you can do it yourself.. Well odd..
